Just minutes after we ended our nightly Skype conversation between Mexico and Canada to tuck my family in for the night, I packed my bags and headed to the airport for a midnight flight to Puerto Vallarta!
After a couple of airplane rides, a taxi, bus, another taxi and my leg power up the hill (so they wouldn’t hear a taxi approaching) I finally arrived at Casa Eskow (it’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years since I last visited Los Ayala!).
The van wasn’t on the cobblestone driveway so I assumed there wasn’t anyone home. Well, except for Lasha who barked my arrival. I changed into my shorts and tank top in the back yard under a palm tree. I figured I would relax in a deck chair until the family came home … and see if they would notice me … when I heard Laurina’s voice and a reply from Alex … the ARE home! But still hadn’t known I was there despite of Lasha’s persistence.
So I settled into a sun chair when Alex walked out onto the balcony above. He looked down and couldn’t believe his eyes! He had the biggest smile but was speechless! He went inside to get mum. He could only point out towards the pool deck below but was still speechless. Laurina had to come take a look and there I was waving from below.
A couple hours later, Carl and Betty came home. I came out of the bedroom as if I had been there all along without saying a word. Needless to say, they were quite shocked to see me. It was a great surprise for everyone and I can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend!
